About Us

Hemingway said there was no friend as loyal as a book. We’re a close second.

Who are the Friends of the Mountain View Library?

We are lovers of words, seekers of knowledge, and those who escape into vast imaginary worlds. We are film watchers and music connoisseurs. We believe that libraries are important places that should be robust and serve the entire community. Some of us are retirees, others high school students. Both young professionals and parents of school age kids are Friends. Because we all love the Library we want to show our support.

Sorting teams have much to do

We’ve raised more than $1.3 million since 1975 for:

  • The Summer Reading Program
  • Author visits
  • Musical performances
  • Arts and crafts workshops
  • Adult Education Programs

Your donations, membership contributions and purchases at Book Sales or the Lobby Shop directly support these enriching programs and more.

Do you love the Library too? Join us!

Whether sorting donated books, working in the Lobby Shop or helping with Book Sales – we’ve got volunteer opportunities for everyone, at home and in person.
